A memorial is intended to serve as a reminder and commemoration for people or past events. It may take many forms—a statue, a structure, a garden, or something else—but the purpose remains the same: to remember and honor. The memorials of the Clovis Veterans Memorial District honor the veterans of our community, past and present.

Pinedale Assembly Center
The Remembrance Plaza of the Pinedale Assembly Center was dedicated in February 2009 through a joint effort of Clovis Veterans Memorial District, Central California District Council of the Japanese American League and the Central California Nikkei Foundation. It honors the 4,800 Japanese-Americans who were interned nearby from May to July 1942. A sculpted fountain serves as the serene focal point for the plaza. Plaques on a cement semi-circle tell the history of the former internment camp, as well as U.S. soldiers of Japanese descent, and the path towards reconciliation.
